I am wondering if actors come out of the stage door after matinees or do they just stay in the theatre until the evening performance?
I am planning to go see Wicked in San Fran here next week during the matinee.

I know on Broadway it was hit or miss with Kendra after a matinee. One time she did come out, the next she didn't, but when she does come out... she is extremely nice.
It depends on the person.

My suggestion would be to check at the house when you attend the matinee. In most cases, performers do exit through the stage door and sign for evening performances in Broadway houses. Some actors choose not to do so for matinees if they are eating, have appointments or are resting for the evening performance.
In other cities, the tradition varies. Road companies and houses in major cities other than NY do not always follow the stage door tradition since many fans in these cities do not know to visit or care to visit the stage door. The best way to know for certain is to ask at the theater either before or when you attend the performance.

Matinees are always tricky. Faith Prince didn't come out after the Thursday mat of A Catered Affair, and I don't think Curtis did after Xanadu either.
Rebecca Luker is apparenlty bad to slip out another door.
