really? One of my favorite movies and they want to make a musical out of it? i guess I'll have to see what happens cause I didn't know DRS would be so good. Maybe this could actually work.

I'd love to see David Hyde Pierce in the Cleese role.
actually Jon, I could see that working out. Let's hope he does do it.

The challenge may be in writing songs for Palin's stuttering character.
I don't know about this one. The movie is so embedded with the original film cast, I can't see it translating well to the stage, especially adding songs to the plot. But it's worked before for other films (though I don't include DRS because I found it a huge disappointment), so it's possible. But I do think Yazbek would be a good choice for composer and/or Zippel for lyrics.
DHP in the Cleese role would be CRAMAZING.
Why would DHP be so extra special? I liked him in Curtains, but nothing about any of the characters he has played make me think he would be "CRAMAZING" (I'm still not quite sure what this means) in Cleese's role. The real casting is going to hinge on the the Curtis and Klein roles. Those are going to be tough shoes to fill.

I bet the debut will be at the Old Globe in San Diego. and if so, there is a slight possibility that Jack O'Brien could direct it.
Who is doing the score? David Yazbek would be a great choice.

Archie Leach: David Hyde Pierce
Wanda Gershwitz: Alice Ripley
Otto West: Alan Cumming
Ken Pile: Michael McGrath
I think David Hibbard would be a great Ken.
Hannah Waddingham for Wanda.
Alan Cumming for Otto.
And it would be fun to see Kevin Kline take on the John Cleese role.
I can't see Alan Cumming doing Otto. he doesn't seem like the best choice.
I can't wait for Otto's big second-act number, "Don't Call Me (Stupid)."

To be honest, I don't know how this would work as a musical.
I worked for Cleese while the film was being made. His friend Tom Georgeson played the role of George Thomason. Thank god the friend's name wasn't Billy Sastard.
