"Stalking" actors

Alright, I'm fully aware I have already answered this but I did something today that may add some extra insight. I saw All About Eve for the first time and not only was it BRILLIANT but it also gave me a better way to articulate myself than before.
Ok, for those of you who don't know, Eve is this groupie who becomes an understudy who becomes a star. She's also really clever and/or insane, but I digress:
Rent and/or buy the film
If you think you are going beyond the scene when Eve goes to the airport with Margo and Bill and she interupts their smooch, you're in trouble. If you go as far as Phoebe in the last scene, get help. If you don't view either of those girls as sickos, commit yourself.
Other than that, support the theatre in whatever way you feel comfortable. By my clock it's about 15 mins till June 6 and then we can all slit each others' throats over the Tonys wins.
Pleasant dreams

Posted: 6/6/04 at 12:43amIt's one thing to see the show and get an autograph at the stage door. It's another thing to follow the actor down the street to see which way they turn or call your friends on your cell to "report" on them. That's not cool.

the closest I ever came to stalking an actor was when 4 friends and I saw the Scarlet Pimpernel tour 4 times in a week and, on the 4th day, brought signs we had made that spelled out "We Love Doug" (Sills, of course). Sills, being the amazing guy he is, seemed really flattered and insisted on taking a picture with us and bragged loudly to Amy Bodnar that he had his "fan club" there!
I did manage to piss off a Broadway star at stage door once, and it wasn't even her show! After seeing Sweeney Todd at the Kennedy Center (Brian Stokes Mitchell, Christine Baranski, Hugh Panaro), I was waiting at stage door for Christine Baranski who was taking her time getting out. I spotted a woman and a man chatting familiarly with Stokes (who I had already talked to) and I assumed the woman must be Baranski. I ran up and was like "Ms. Baranski you were amazing, could I have your autograph!" or something similar. Turned out to be Marin Mazzie, who looked at me funny and replied somewhat irritated "I wasn't in the show. But I've been in a few shows with Brian." It took me a second before I realized that I had failed to recognize two of my favorite performers (the man was of course Jason Danieley). I apologized repeatedly then had them both sign my Sweeney Todd poster. I felt horrible afterward, but I figure, I may have the world's only Sweeney Todd poster signed by Marin Mazzie and Jason Danieley.

Acting like a teeny-bopper, traveling to see your favorite performer, and hanging around the stage door is not stalking. Yes, you might "freak someone out", but it's not stalking. It's called being overly enthusiastic.
Following someone home, harassing their family, finding out their contact information and threatening them in some way, following them around the country and showing up at their hotel, *that* is stalking.
