I know that I've asked a lot of people this question, but...

what's the rule with standbys at the show? Do they have to go?

for example...does Eden/LBB have to be there if Idina/Kristin is performing that night?

Off stage cover or understudies have to be present for all 8 shows but are allowed to leave for the evening once the person they are covering has made their final entrance. Or at least, that's how it works in London.

Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

This made me think of that funny monologue in Elaine Stritch at Liberty where she is Ethel Merman's stand-by.

They generally leave after the final entrance or one of the last songs that way if something were to happen, the lead actor could probably handle it without it being noticeable.

i guess my question is, has anybody ever met one of the standbys after a performance that they weren't in?

Elaine Stritch's stand-by monologue was VERY funny.
