A few weeks ago, I tuned into this show on FX, for one reason: to see if Laura Benanti could be a convincing dramatic actress. She succeeds very well, proving that she's not just a pretty face with a great voice.
It played its last episode of the season last night, and is in limbo of getting picked up.
Anyone else watch it? What do you think?

It's a pretty bad show. poorly written with an absolutely unsympathetic and obnoxious leading man. Laura is really excellent in it, but from what I know, it wouldn't be the end of her world if it's not picked up. Reviews ran the gamut from really great to worse than those I read for Good Vibrations. But what I think really put the nail in the coffin was the awful ratings-that's what matters. But it did put Laura on the map, even if in a small way.

I knew the girl in that show looked familiar.
I saw the pilot episode, and it couldn't even keep my attention. However, from what I did see was just... not very good. Oh well. She's back on Broadway in the near future, so its all well for Laura.

I love Laura Benanti and she was the best part of the show, but not even she could make me watch it.
I was absolutely disgusted and found not even one bit of it funny.
I never watched the show but I imagine a comedy show about an eating disorder support group was probably a misguided idea. It's possible to mine humor out of dark situations, but it's a VERY difficult line to tread.
I turned off the pilot about 10 minutes in - it was literally sickening.

Are you people nuts?
STARVED might have had some flaws with its leading man. But it was a show that tapped into some topics that are SO taboo.
It's so awesome to see someone take a chance for once and it not be HBO or Showtime.
I really loved STARVED.
Laura was awesome as was Jackie Hoffman.
Hats off to FX for taking a chance on some new material and some un-known actors. The characters had real issues with no happy endings. thats life guys. Not everything can be wrapped up in a nice 30 min bow.
It may not get picked up for another season. But it definitly will make way for some more off-beat dramedies in the future.
Sorry. I couldn't get past the cop using a billy club to his gut to force himself to vomit on the homeless guy for a full minute.
