State of the Marriott Marquis?

...other than NY, that is.

We got a great rate at the Marriott Marquis for our madcap Manhattan theater trip in September. I know that they've been working on the theater and ground level (about to reopen). Does anyone know if they're also tearing-up the hotel inside (I'm sure it would be done floor by floor). And what expectations are for the first week in September?

Wondering if we'll be "paying" for the great rate with lost sleep.

...and thinking that I'll ask for a view of Sardi's rather than a view of Broadway (although, from my profile pic, that shouldn't be surprising).

They're not doing any renovations to guest floors that I know of, and even if they were, work wouldn't be occurring during sleeping hours.

And the street-level work is finished? (or looks like it will be done shortly)

Normally, I'd not be worried about it but a couple of years ago, we had to go to Salt Lake City for family and booked a hotel that was remodeling its lobby and restaurants. Any daytime moments that weren't in the room were punctuated by what seemed to be a mixture of jack hammers and screws through metal studs. Six months later, we did a second-floor AirBnB rental next to seemingly the largest NY pothole collection on 51st & 8th, with jackhammers demolishing the sidewalk across the street. In spite of the limitation on construction during the nighttime, it still was an irritation. (Add to the fact that the AirBnB adjacent potholes seemed to catch every clanky catering truck in Times Square between 1:00 and 8:00 each day - somehow in both directions on a one-way street!)

Since it's a cheap rate (and I don't have thousands of Marriott points) I'm wondering if I need to do some pre-stay communication and/or tailor my check-in requests to avoid construction issues.

Whats considered a "great rate" here, if you don't mine me asking? Every time I've look at room prices for this they are always over $450/night.

That's what makes me suspicious. Approximately half of what you mention. A contributing factor may be that it's the week before Labor Day. (Awkward for corporate convention scheduling.) This was booked through Marriott.

NYC law prohibits construction between the hours of 6PM and 7AM on weekdays and at all times on weekends, except by special dispensation. I have no idea how you lucked into a particularly good rate at the hotel, but it's not to compensate for construction noise.
