I absolutely CANNOT wait for Producers and Hairspray - so excited...I hope the time comes fast!
The film.... says Meehan, "has been expanded in several ways; there's some brand-new stuff.' As for casting, he says, the aim was "to try and use AS MANY PEOPLE FROM THE NEW YORK COMPANY (LcZ emphasis): all four guys (Nathan Lane, Matthew Broderick , Gary Beach, Roger Bart) plus some of the ensemble and the girls," with the additions of Nicole Kidman as Ulla and Will Ferrell (news) as the mad German, Franz Liebkind."
I hope Tom is serious of including as much of the Broadway cast as can be allowed in. I'd love to see Brad & Cady in bit roles at the very least!
Well, The Producers has already been cast, so he is serious (about the leads). I'm glad to hear that some new material has been added.
Movie musicals in general excite me, even when they're based on a stage show with a score that I dislike (read: Phantom of the Opera). Of all the projects discussed there, I'm most eagerly awaiting Rent.
Oh, and Contact should work out really well.
