It was Chenoweth's character (Precious) thats was irritting, not the actress herself. Listen to her painfully bad "operetta" parody "Two Little Words" on the OCR and you get the idea.
When I saw the show she failed to make much of an impression on me overall, but then 2 years later she wins a Tony for CHARLIE BROWN. Her Tony Awards performance of "My New Philosophy" is a gem.
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

Posted: 5/9/11 at 5:12pmI didn't see the show so I don't know. BUT my dad did and he loved the character Precious but he isn't that into theatre so who knows. I like Two Little Words a lot. I find it charming but I suppose if the characetr irritates you that you wouldn't wanna listen to them sing high pitched imitation opera. Though I love the song.
