"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

"Robinson takes on the role of "C.C. White", the Dreamette's songwriter and, in Condon's conception, also their choreographer."

Still don't get the choreographer part, but congrats to Mr.Robinson

What happened to usher? Wasn't he supposed to be CC originally? And I too don't get the need for him to be a choreographer too. Well I'll have to see what they do with it.

I was wondering what happened to Usher, too... at least it's good to know that I didn't dream it. Anyways, I don't really have a problem also being the Dreamettes' choreographer. I mean, Deena's mother made their costumes, why couldn't CC teach them to dance? He is still their songwriter, right? Whatever, I have trusted Bill Condon thus far in his decision making so I'm still just ready for this film to be coming out in a theatre near me.

I'm sure the Dreams won't tap-dance or anything, but they have coordinated movements, right? Girl groups and boy groups tend to do that.

I'm glad they didn't feel the need to have a "star" play this part, after all. This is a good sign that they cast Keith based on abilities, not his notoriety.

Cool.

CC is a good supporting role, it doesn't really have any "star turn" moments though. I never understood how the whole "Usher" thing developed on this in the first place. CC takes the lead vocally on "We Are a Family" as well as his later duet with his estranged sister ("Effie, it's been all these years," etc.) He's all through the story, though, as the song writer for the Dreams, as well as a few of Thunder Early's hits. I don't really see the need to have him choreograph their moves, as well... but hey, that's just me.
