They better get Tina Fey to write their banter if they want this to come off as anything but the 1992 Oscars.

Interesting choice with co-hosts. TV is all about ratings. Baldwin is on a hit show right now. So, it makes sense to have him host/co-host, to draw in more viewers.
Loved Steve Martin when he hosted a few years back. He was very funny.

I'm a big fan of both but it does seem like an odd choice. Baldwin isn't really known for stand up, plus 30 Rock is a critic's darling and the funniest show on TV, but the ratings aren't very good. And Martin just put out that Banjo CD, but other than that he hasn't been very active lately.
Oh wait, I just realized they're both in that Meryl Streep romantic comedy coming up. Ahhh, now I see the connection and the timeliness.
That's right....the Meryl Streep comedy is coming out soon.
Why not have her host? She's very, very funny....and seems to not know how funny she is....how refreshing!

I can't stand Alec Baldwin. He's the reason I resisted 30 Rock for so long.
They should have gotten Neil Patrick Harris!
Neil would have been great, but at this point I imagine people think of him as too TV to host the Oscars. Maybe give him a couple years and we might see him as a host.
Apparently the likes of Ben Stiller, Hugh Jackman, and Robert Downey Jr. turned down the gig. Martin and Baldwin are very interesting choices, they are both funny but have very different kinds of humor, which could very much work on their favor. I thought they were hilarious when Martin guest-starred on 30 ROCK, and I'm sure they're great in IT'S COMPLICATED (the new Meryl Streep romantic comedy).

Seems like a great choice to me.

Any reaction on Rotten Vegetables? It's never too early.
Not excited about this, but here's hoping that they surprise me!
I think it's a terrible match. I can't imagine any chemistry between them. Perhaps they'll surprise, though.

How boring. And I wonder who Steve Martin is going to rip off for material? Seems like everything he does is a rehash of somebody else's superior movies - from Father of the Bride to Cheaper By the Dozen and culminating in the SHAMEFULLY BAD and unnecessary Pink Panther remakes.
Can you tell I'm a little over Mr. Martin?

Wow. That's wierd.
This is the only thing I found (besides 30 Rock) of them working together from SNL and they dont even speak. Basically, it has to do with who can host the most times. Like the very episode after Steve Martin hosted had to be Alec Baldwin.
