I want to go...and not just for Brian Stokes Mitchell (who I would love to see, don't get me wrong). Keith Lockhart is a wonderful conductor and he always makes the Boston Pops concerts fun and enjoyable.

When I first read the thread title I missed the Radio City part and was about to go buy tickets for this because I thought it was in Boston. Love the Pops, love Brian Stokes Mitchell, don't love the fact that it's in New York.

It's funny that I will be in NYC this weekend to see HAIR at Central Park! Oh, well!

I'm glad to know there are a few Keith Lockhart fans here at BWW. He and I have been friends for many years and I've done two articles about him for this site. He's a genuinely nice person and a truly gifted conductor.

My only misgiving about this concert is that it's at Radio City Music Hall and that means it'll be miked. I really don't like a miked orchestra. They don't use amplification at Symphony Hall.

Symphony Hall in Boston? I saw Stokes when he performed there in June and it was miked. Actually, all the concerts I've seen there have been miked.

Stokes did do one number unamplified, though.

At Symphony Hall even Keith uses a mike when he's talking to the audience. The orchestra, however, isn't miked.

Awesome! Can you get me to meet him in Boston?

Haha, just kidding. Yeah I am a Keith Lockhart fan...people seem to not care who is conducting the orchestra, but Keith makes the experience fun, and I like when he throws in humorous bits in between songs. You can really tell the man honestly loves what he's doing...he always has a smile on his face. I love that little video they show of the orchestra members rushing to get through Boston to get to Symphony Hall for a performance (with Keith "conducting" a university crew team). This is probably only shown in Boston - hopefully someone knows what I am talking about.
