What straight plays should I be seeing when I am in the city the end of Oct?

The Inherentence and Slave Play are the big ones that’s everyone’s talking about right now. I haven’t seen Inheritence, and I thought Slave Play was just ok.
Betrayal is excellent, as is The Sound Inside. I definitely recommend both. The Sound Inside is one that people don’t seem to be talking about much, but the few people who have reported back (including myself) have really liked it.
Read up on The Great Society - if the subject matter sounds particularly interesting to you, you’ll probably like it. If not, don’t other.

To kill a mockingbird and betrayal for dramas
Play that goes wrong for comedy
Harry potter for it's own unique genre
I havent seen the new crop of plays yet (great society, inheritance, sound inside, in the storm etc) though it sounds like they all have flaws but have some strong cast members that may help to compensate and the fact that drama is easier to nitpick and be subject to viewer preference.

The Inheritance and Slave Play aren't exactly straight plays. (I'm here all week, don't forget to tip your servers.)

I saw Height of the Storm last night and found it to be one of the most moving plays I have seen in years. It is about an older married couple and their two grown daughters and all of the things that concern families as a generation ages. It is subtle and thought provoking, but obviously not happy-go-lucky. But with Jonathan Pryce and Eileen Atkins (just extraordinary!) and a well written play, it is very a effective theatrical experience.
