Streisand's "The Movie Album" vs. "The Broadway Album"

Reading at http://www.bjsmusic.com/fawk-music26.html I see that Babs is back in the studio recording a CD of movie songs with her manager stating "With The Movie Album as a working title, the upcoming CD will be released later this year and should be a perfect adjunct to The Broadway Album."

I remember when the Broadway Album came out and was a huge hit. It's also one of my favorite CDs. Does anyone really believe, including Barbra herself that she's still big and relevant enough as an artist to do something up to that same level?

It's going to take a lot more than "Smile" to impress me on this one.

I actually got to listen to a little bit from the new recording and it's very good. It's obviously not finished yet, but it's coming along nicely. She's been working on it for a while now. I think she just wants to get back to releasing at least one album a year. I heard there is going to be a little video release like they had for her version of "Putting It Together", but that could just be a rumor.

Ugh. The soppy "Smile" is one of my least-favorite film songs. I can tell she doesn't have any gay men choosing her material.

Dollars to doughnuts she won't include "Last Night When We Were Young" or "There's A Lull in My Life".

I'm looking forward to it myself...assuming that the song selections are good ones. Only time will tell!
