Stritch in Chicago

Caught her show there Saturday. It was a disappointment. It started out kind of flat and lost energy as the long evening wore on. She even lost her place at one time and had to have the conductor prompt her. It's too bad because I have the CD which is bright and vibrant and interesting. The new stories she told Saturday night had less appeal than the original ones on the CD. It seemed obvious she is showing the rigors of the 1week stands of a national tour. She heads for Toronto next. And Elaine, take or week or two off! Get some rest!!

Excuse me, Andrew Clay. What was Elaine Stritch doing with your mother in New York? Has your mother become a part of Elaine's act?????

So will you when you're 79 , you just won't be performing on a B'way Stage!(lol) ((do they make bodystocking support hose?)

Dollypop won't be around too much longer and has no dreams of ever reaching the ripe old age of 79!!!!!

Stritch was only in Chicago the 10th of June to the 15th...none of the shows were sold out. I was there opening and closing night and thought she was just fine! She fumbled a bit for words, but I think that's part of the excitement, etc. I didn't want to "see and listen" to the CD of "AT LIBERTY". I want an "In the moment show" complete with memory lapses, etc! That's the art and the drama part of it! And my God...she's 78, proud of it and very entertaining...AND SHE'S STUCK WITH IT! Not abandoning "The THEAYTURRR" like Sarah "By Jeeves" Brightman!
