Hmm...Triumph of Love. I've considered doing that with my theatre company at home. Is it fun? It sounds fun (I've only read the synopsis on MTI's website). I don't know much else about it. Is there a straight show that it is based on?

I would consider doing Joseph...etc. if it weren't for the fact that male performers are pretty rare at my school. It would be very doable otherwise, however. Thanks!

Jones and Schmidt's "Celebration". It was a huge flop and isn't seen as being very good, but the right director and cast can make it quite good. It's weird and unique with some really good music.

The musical version is really fun to do. There is a straight play that it is based on, but it was written in the 17th century by a French author (Marivaux). We (the cast) had to read it, and it was a pretty crappy translation. It didn't look to fun, but the musical version is very fun.

I went to a catholic all girls hs - so we had to pick shows that weren't going to offend, as well as female heavy shows, since getting guys was often difficult - here are the shows we did when i was there (and no i didn't go to hs for 5 years - we did 2 musicals my sr year)
Sound of Music
Once Upon a Mattress
The Pajama Game
Into the Woods
No No Nanette

I think in the following years they did Children of Eden, Peter Pan, and Cinderella

just some catholic-friendly ideas

I LOVE YOU, YOU'RE PERFECT, NOW CHANGE!!

Ah! I knew something brilliant would come to me!
4 performers and absolutely hilarious songs. (Examples: "We're growing up dysfunctional!!" and "Lesbian! I should be a lesbian! If I were born to love women, how wondrously sane I would be!!").
Enjoy!

I JUST bought the recording for "I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change!" and it's hilarious. So true, too...

Coincidentally, I'm currently directing a production of "Once on this Island" with my theatre co. at home, so as much as I adore the show, I do not want to direct it again in the fall. Thanks though! I have a lot of research to do now!re: Student Directed Musical
