Student Rush

I have a question about the whole Student Rush thing. What exactly is it? lol I'm a huge theatre fan, and would like to see more shows on Broadway, but I don't exactly have the money to pay for the often-expensive tickets. Could anyone tell me everything I need to know, including which shows you know that do it? Thanks!

It depends on the show: some have student rush, some have a general rush, and others have a lottery. All are on the day of performance, which is when you can get the best deals. However, most shows have fairly reasonably priced (often cheaper than places like TKTS) full-priced tickets in the rear balcony. Usually they are great seats and well worth the money, and for shows like Wicked and Avenue Q that are always sold out, they're the only way to guarantee you'll see them for cheap b/c cancellations are usually orchestra seats.

Thanks! I'm going to have to look into that. Generally, is there a limit on the number of tickets you can get? And, how easy (or hard lol) is it to get tickets in the lottery or Rush? Thanks (and sorry if I sound clueless, I am lol)

Depends on the show for all those questions. All they're official websites will tell you about prices and procedures. If they have rush, usually that's b/c the show isn't doing well enough to have a lottery, so, if you get there early enough, it shouldn't be a problem.
