So I'm going back to NYC for 4-5 days in January... 4th-8 or 9th to be exact and I'm seeing six or seven shows... The Apple Tree, Tarzan, Mary Poppins, Les Mis, A Chorus Line, Spring Awakening, and Drowsy again if we stay for an extra day...
Now I've already been told to do onstage seating for Spring Awakening... so I am just going to get those at the box office when I get into the city.
I saw Tarzan in August and got student rush tickets on the front row... I know they moved the rush tickets to like row Q, but...
Question 1: Have Tarzan student rush tickets moved back to the front row? If not, how can I get tickets as close to that as possible?
Question 2: I checked Talkin' Broadway and they didn't list Mary Poppins as having any student rush or lottery... do they?
Question 3: Does The Apple Tree have lotto or student rush, or should I just get the hiptix ticket offer?
thanks in advance
Question 1: Tarzan has not moved student rush tickets back to the front row. You can pay full price to sit that close again, but just so you know if you pay full price for that show you won't want to waste $5 to see it again.
Question 2: Mary Poppins has no lotto or rush or Standing Room. They do have $20 balcony seats.
Question 3: The Apple Tree does not have lotto. They have student rush which is what-ever ticket price you want that they have available for half price available 30 minutes before the show. If if you are under 18 you can buy their half price tickets any time in advance.
I haven't seen Tarzan recently so I can't answer that question, but I can tell you that Mary Poppins has no rush or standing room and The Apple Tree should have student rush 50% off day of....someone correct me if I'm wrong. Have a great trip! Looks like a good lineup of shows!
so i just looked on ebay and found two balcony row F seats for $96 total... are those the same seats I could get for $20 at the box office... or are those the 2nd balcony or something?
yeah
The balcony has three price ranges I believe...$60, $40, and $20. Some spots in the balcony of the New Amsterdam have small structural pipes that don't obstuct your view too much, but depending on where you're sitting they can be annoying! Try for the $20 seats, they're not much worse than the $60 seats.

I've got a Spring Awakening question.
Do you think if I get to the box office 4 hours before the show starts, I'll be able to purchase tickets?
I checked for the on-stage seating on telecharge.com and they don't even have any left for that day.
I'm pretty sure you can only buy the on-stage seats at the box office. I know that was true during previews, did they change that?
SweetieQ, the on stage seats can only be purchased at the box office.

No, that's not true. You can buy stage seats online, but they are sold out (or not offered because it's still in previews) tonight and tomorrow.

paris, after I saw Spring Awakening from the orchestra, the on stage seats look like they are great, but keep an eye on the reviews. If the reviews are good, you better buy them in advance of your trip.

Don't kill me; I have another question.
I know the box office opens at 10 but, if I get there at 1:00ish, do you think there will be any chance they'll be student rush seats left?
If no, do you think regular tickets will still be available for purchase?
I'd be going on Fri, Dec 15th.
Thanks
Edit: Where are the rush seats located?

Regarding Tarzan, you might just get lucky and get moved up to what are essentially the best seats in the theater - or at least moved up to something better than Row X. I don't know how often it occurs, but sweetestsiren, orangeskittles, and I (yes, I'm listening everyone because if I'm going to embarrass myself by posting about seeing Tarzan, I'm taking others down with me!) purchased three student rush tickets and were moved up to Row J center immediately before the show.
I can't say I would have been angry to have remained in Row X considering the price, but as it's been stated on here many times before, the view from those seats is AWFUL. At the box office, they really downplay that fact, but I would imagine that you miss a lot of the action and are forced to watch it on the tiny screens in front of you instead. Again, I don't know if you can really complain considering the price, but I can imagine being very frustrated with the view.
SweetQ- the tickets for January on-stage seats haven't gone on sale yet
. I called telecharge yesterday because I wanted to make sure if they were sold out or not.
