Student Rush policy question....

Okay so I know playbill.com has a bunch of info on student rush, as do the various websites, but what I'm wanting to know is what theaters check student IDs when you're actually entering the performance. I heard one of them does but I can't remember which right now. What if I want to take someone who isn't a student, you know? Any info/experiences would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Also what kind of seats do you get for student rush at Mamma Mia!, Xanadu, and Spring Awakening, anyone know?

At the box office for Legally Blonde, they say that you have to show your student ID when you go in for the show. However, I'm not even sure if the person who checked my ticket even saw my ID - I had it out, but it didn't seem to be a priority?

For Xanadu, I'm pretty sure if there are onstage seats still available, you can get those. I'm not exactly sure what they sell after that.

And for Spring Awakening, there are 4 onstage seats available, which usually go right away. After those are gone, the seats all the way to the sides (partial view) in the orchestra are sold next.

When I did rush for Blonde they did ask to see my student ID. However, that was the first time and only time I have ever had that happen to me. The student rush situation for Xanadu isn't really a set policy. Most that do student rush have a policy of setting aside a group of seats to sell as student rush seats. Or to sell whatever is available and hasn't been sold at student rush prices ( I know for example that Little Mermaid has this policy.) But, Xanadu's policy seems to be based upon whatever the guy at the box office feels like. If he is feeling generous and wants to sell them he will sell them. If he doesn't want to sell them he won't.

I remember when I saw Xanadu for the first time. The guy at the box office told me that they did have one left. I said I was going to take a second to figure out if I wanted it. I stepped out side and no one entered the box office between the time I left saying that I was going to take a second to think it over and the time I went back in to buy the ticket. Yet, when I said that I wanted the ticket the second time they said that they didn't have it anymore. Which I thought was stupid considering that no one entered or left the box office between me asking the first time and then me going back in there saying that I wanted the ticket. I have heard and have the same impression after experencing it. That the box office's policy at Xanadu in regards to Student Rush is rather arbatrary.

How many tickets can you get per student ID when doing the student rush? I know there are some shows that let you get 2, but on the playbill site w/ the all the rush policies it doesn't say for a lot of the shows.

I know Little Mermaid is only one ticket per ID.

When I did Legally Blonde, the lady taking the tickets said she only needed to see one student ID for my friend and I together, so only one of you has to be a student. This was a year ago, though, so it may have changed, especially since I hear the show has gotten stricter in terms of which types of ID's they accept, etc.

The box office now only takes college IDs. There is a sign in the box office that explained the rules of student rush for Blonde. The only thing that has changed about that sign is that it went from saying student ID to now saying college ID.

I guess they thought that some of the drama that was going on in the Legally Blonde rush line was done by kids who weren't in college so they thought that if they limited it to college students it wouldn't be as big a problem. Ironically enough, from what I understand, most of the people who were causing some of the trouble to begin with were already in college to begin with.

And, before someone does (and I know that they will) ask what happened with the Legally Blonde rush drama. Do a search. There are about a dozen or so threads on the topic

I did Xanadu rush the other day and me and my friends were in seats all the way to the right. I went in at about 5:00 to ask if the student rush tickets usually went quickly and the guy said, "Well tonight is pretty packed, we only have about 6 or 8 tickets left." So I'm guessing Xanadu just uses whatever is leftover from the night.

Xanadu's policy is to sell whatever is not sold two hours prior to show time at the student rush price. However, what they have been doing is whatever they feel like with regards to the selling of student rush. If they feel like selling them they do if not then they don't.
