Student rush?

Can someone please explain to me how student rush works? Does it only apply to college students or can you be in high school? Any information would be divine!

ANY STUDENT. Specific rush times/policies depends on the theatre. Which shows were you thinking about?

Student Tickets: Subject to availability, $27 tickets in the last five rows of the mezzanine may be sold in advance to students with valid ID.

Standing Room: $27.00 - may be available at the box office on the day of the performance - only when the performance is sold out.

How far in advance are they sold? And can anyone clear up why some people are getting front row with student rush, whereas others are in the back of the mezz.? Are they doing both, or how is this working?
