"Stuff Happens" Opening Night

So I went to the opening of David Hare's new play, "Stuff Happens," which my friend who went with me called the theatre equivalent of "Farenheit 9/11." It was a great play, with incredible acting, and I suggest anyone who lives in LA to see it.

It runs 3 hours, but you would never know it! It keeps you constantly engaged and never has a dull moment.

On top of the show, I also went to the after-party, where there was much discussion of the play. My friend and I debated with another couple as to if it was a "play" in the conventional sense. It is strange in that it is somewhat fictionalized, yet much of the play's text comes directly from quotes from the players involved... I think it will certainly stir much debate around LA amongst theatregoers.

What also made the afterparty fun was the great "Americana" theme they put together on the Center Theatre Group Plaza in front of the fountain. Food included "Condoleeza Rice," "Rumsfeld's Ratatouille," "Cheney's BBQ Chicken," and "WMD's" (Water Melon Diagonals). The tables were all draped with American flags, and great classic American Rock blarred from the speakers.

Celebrities in attendance included: Catherine O'Hara, Dan Lauria, Betty White, Stacy Keach, Susan Sullivan, Arriana Huffington (wonder if she'll talk about it in her blog), as well as the incredibly talented cast!
