Hey guys. Traveling on the commuter rail this morning into Boston I thought of a horrible experience I had during a tour last summer...the non-equity Rent tour. The production was horrible and this is coming from someone who loves Rent. From equity show to equity show for the most part the actors/singers are great (professional quality) but not in this non-equity tour. Before going into the show I didn't think there could be that big of a difference between those in the union and those not. I was wrong though and I have sworn off non-equity tours! And to top off a night of a horrible performance of Rent I completely embarassed myself. My friends and I went to a local restuarant and I noticed the people next to us were having a conversation about the performance so I decided to turn around and give them my two cents. Stupid me!!! I gave them my opinion of the show and while I was doing that I was being kicked underneath the table by my wife and friends (they knew something I didn't know). To make a long story short I told the conductor his performance sucked...really bad!!! Anyway...I thought I'd share this with you and maybe I can hear horror stories or dumb stuff you have done when it comes to theatre.

ROFL. That's hilarious! What did the conductor say in return?

Well I thought these people were just broadway fans because they were picking apart all the cast members performance. So and so needs to work on this, this person was flat the whole show etc etc. So I joined the conversation by complaining about the production for a good three minutes. I told him that these people could not sing, act and had no emotion. And to cap it off I said 'out of the 27 Rent performances I have seen this is, by far, the worst'. At that point I decided to shut my mouth because during my rant they were just looking at me, in what I would say, in shock (picture a deer in headlights). There were about a couple moments of silence and then the conductor spoke up 'So you're a Renthead huh?' At that point everyone at the table called my name and then proceeded to tell me that that was the conductor. My whole table was cracking up and I turned beat red. And to make matters worse a fiend/relative just finished watching his show and was now at the table with him. Man did I feel stupid. I immediately asked for the check and went the long way to the exit so I wouldn't have to look at him or his friend/relative on the way out. My wife and friends, before leaving, apologized on my behalf...they had a good laugh. I will never spill the beans to some stranger ever again!

Am I the only one that's done something stupid like this when it comes to a show? Now that would be hard to believe. Mine, I believe, is probably one of the worst!
