It looks like there is finally a street date for the SUMMER OF '42 cast recording. The Jay Records web site shows new cover art for the CD with a release date of September 2006. I can't wait for this. I saw this at Casa Manana in Texas with Rachel York and several other members of the York Theatre cast. It was wonderful.
It looks like the entire show was recorded, too, not just the songs. It appears to be a two-CD set.

Posted: 6/15/06 at 1:13pmThat is great news! I saw the last 2 perfs at the Variety Arts and was awash in tears. It's a beautiful, touching little show that deserved a longer run, IMHO.

Click on the link in my original post. It takes you to the Jay Records site, which shows the cast list. Rachel York stars as Dorothy, plus Celia Keenan-Bolger is on it.

Posted: 8/17/06 at 2:47pmThe main site of Jay Records now says the release has been delayed to October 2006. This CD has been constantly pushed back! I sent an email to jay records just now and I'll post if I get a response.

This is all so confusing. The title of that article says an October release, but within the article it says September!
Oh well, either way, it looks like we're getting this CD in the next couple of months, which is great.

The frustration with Jay Records continues. I just went to Amazon.com to check on the status of my pre-order for "Summer of '42" and the release date is now listed as December 5, 2006! How on earth does this company stay in business? And how disappointing for the artists to wait this long to see their work made available to the public.
Sheesh.
