Summer theater 2023

Would love to hear if there are particular summer shows/festivals that folks are excited about this year. I’m thinking about whether to squeeze in some weekend trips. Maybe to Summer Stock at the Goodspeed. Maybe A New Brain at Barrington. Are there regional shows/festivals that people are especially enthusiastic about this year? Needn’t be just in the northeast, either!

Goodspeed is always lovely in summer - besides the show, there’s lunch on the patio at the Gelston right next door to the theater, a boat ride on the river or on the steam train. I wasn’t sold on Summer Stock until they recently announced Corbin Bleu starring - he’s terrifically talented. And if you’re up for more theater, the Goodspeed’s smaller house, the Terris, is a short drive away in Chester. It’s a lovely small theater with no “bad seats.”  From July 26-August 27, there’s a show called “Here You Come Again,” featuring the music of Dolly Parton. (And FWIW, Chester has some lovely small restaurants in their village).
