Anyone know why Barrett wasnt in Ave Q this Sunday yet 2 (i believe) understudies were used..HMS at the matinee and someone else at the night show (if that's wrong, sorry)?

And the other thing about the Phantom Lady was, Bert, she realized, in the city that never sleeps... What did she realize, Kitten? That all the songs she'd listened to, all the love songs, that they were only songs. What's wrong with that? Nothing, if you don't believe in them. But she did, you see. She believed in enchanted evenings, and she believed that a small cloud passed overhead and cried down on a flower bed, and she even believed there was breakfast to be had... Where? On Pluto. The mysterious, icy wastes of Pluto.

Barrett was in the evening show. An understudy did the matinee.

Yup Barrett was at the evening show. He was out at the matinee (don't know why) and Howie Michael Smith went on for him (his first time)

There were 2 unterstudies for the Sunday evening performance though. I think Jennifer and Rick were both out. i didn't see the show but i happened to be passing the stage door as they were coming out (after seeing Forbidden Broadway) and one of the people waiting there told me that

How did Howie do?

He was wonderful!
Completely adorable!
He was so excited to be doing the show.
Afterwards, he was indulging me and several of my fellow theatre-girls from school by autographing everything and posing for pictures.
He said, "man, this show seems to go on forever in rehearsals, but then I got on there on stage and it was all over so fast!"
Lovely fellow.
I wish him the best.

I also heard that Christian Anderson (another new u/s) went on a few days ago as well... when Carmen went on for Jen and Aymee went on for Steph...

There were three puppeteers played by understudies in on Sunday:
Rod/Princeton , Nicky/Trekkie, and Mrs. Thistletwat/B.I. Bear.
All of them were fantastic!!!
But then, in my experience, Broadway understudies usually are. :)
