Sunday matinees and old people

In my limited experience with theatre I've noticed that the most popular show for senior citizens to attend seems to be the Sunday matinee.

Am I imagining this or is it actually the case? And if it is true, then why?

I would've said Wednesday matinees. At any matinees, you should expect a proliferation of seniors.

Yeah, Wednesday matinees are ALL old people.

When I saw Doubt it was like a geriatric field trip.

Wednesday matinees tend to be cheaper, but not by a very significant amount (for example, tickets that may be $100 at any other performances would be $90 at a Wednesday matinee, etc.) I think it has more to do with the time and the fact that many bridge-and-tunnel retirees find that it's the most convenient performance to attend.

Who are you calling old? You little whippersnapper!
