Hey everyone, I just got in from NYC and the concert, and I couldn't wait to post about it, since who knows when I would have time for it with school this week. Anyway..
SUSAN WAS ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!! I can't say enough about her - she sung beautifully, was sooo funny, and just puts on an overall amazing act. She started off singing a song from her second CD, then moved onto random bits from So Far.. and then of course about 8 or 9 songs from Coffeehouse. She sung a few other funny songs, one about what her favorite part of being on broadway was (she gets to kiss allllll kinds of men, and it's not cheating!), as well as a new (I think) Goldrich and Heisler song dealing with the desperation of wanting someone back after a break up.
All the songs from Coffeehouse were just perfect - she did fun ones like Taylor and beautifully moving ones like Oh How I Loved You. For anyone who hasn't heard the CD, it really is great, but hearing her live makes 10 times better.
The overall show, besides her singing and song choice, was superb too - Susan has such a fun, crazy sense of humor that really makes her "shine" (yeah I'm corny okay). She just kept evceryone cracking up, whether it be from sarcastic one liners to her dramatic motions or anything else. From this show, it's so obvious that she is more than a singer, she is a true entertainer as well.
Okay, need to wrap this up.. what else.. okay well her sister was sitting right behind me, that was cool. Oh, and Susan and her guitarist Sean Harkness (who did a solo from one of his CDs) signed CDs in the back of Joe's Pub too, so of course I went there. She, as ALWAYS, was so incredibly sweet and genuine and just so easy to talk to.
Overall, it was the perfect night - I had been looking forward to this concert for months now, and I was not disappointed at all. Susan is so energetic, funny, talented and truly a nice person, which is really shown while she is up on stage. If anyone else went, and wants to add some stuff I forgot, please do! It's late! But what an amazing time we had

Oh if you only knew how jealous I am!!!!!!! SO glad you had a fabulous time! I adore Susan! She's brilliant. Today was my Susan Day (yes, how sad am I) and to console myself about missing her at Joe's Pub I watched Spirited Away and listened to her CD pretty much the whole day!
fun, right?
