My parents took me as a reward for getting into the National Honor Society.(pretty sweet deal just for getting good grades) First we went for dinner at Sardi's and as I'm looking at all the pictures, I turn around and there's Greggory Jbara! I said hello and he is just as friendly as everyone says! We ended up chatting for a little, then he wrote me a little note on one of those little wine menu paper things and signed it.
I'm too excited not to post about it! After hearing great things one after the other about this production, I finally got to see it. Well, i was shaking throughout the whole thing. Everybody was incredible. Patti and Manoel stood out the most to me. I was a little nervous about there not being an orchestra, but I really didnt notice after it started. Everything just falls into place so nicely. The simplicity of the stage really worked because the story itself is not so simple. It was a perfect balance.
The audience was incredibly well behaved last night. Probably because everyone was speechless.. I know I was. I decided to wait at the stage door and first Alexander Gemignani came out and signed (he was extremely friendly) and then Maria (can't remember her last name, but she was the beggar woman) signed and chatted, she was also very nice and appreciative of her fans.
DIANA Dimarzio is the beggar woman. She continues to be awe inspiring!
Congrats on your good grades! I loved Sweeney myself---wasn't it amazing?
