Sweeney at Signature - What were they thinking? - Post review and video (spoiler)

Just managed to see Sweeney at Signature Theatre in Arlington on Saturday. One of my favorite shows . . .usually. This was so terrible. An orchestra of 4 pieces, and some of the worst direction ever. I felt like they butchered it (sorry about the pun). A couple nice performances from Sherri Edelen (Mrs. Lovett), Sam Ludwig (Tobias) and Channez McQuay (Beggar woman). But the sounds is so thin. Sweeney cannot sing. And (spoilers coming up) these body bags dropping from the ceiling. Just awful. Schaeffer keeps butchering great shows. Look at Washington Post review and video with it. You will not believe this!

Visually it looks like they combined elements from the original Broadway production, the 2005 Revival and the Tim Burton film.
