I'm wondering if anyone can give me an idea of how easy it is to get the cheap tickets the day of, since they don't have rush. I'm trying to figure out if it's really that necessary for me to go get mine in advance. Gracias.
also, how is the 3rd row DIRECTLY center of the balcony
I got Box tickets (3 of them) for the Saturday matinee, 10 minutes to showtime. 70$ a ticket with teh playbill discount..and there were about 10 seats still open in boxes by that time. It's a pretty small theatre.

Unless it becomes a sold out hit after the reviews come out, you should have no trouble getting the $36 seats the day of.
That was the answer I was looking for, PJ. Thanks!
Are they just the mezzanine seats, or is this information I found somewhere about the partial view orchestra seats true?
The partial view seats are true Em, but well depending on what you want to see in the production, I'm not sure I would recommend them over the rear mezz. I was in the front row on the side which should have been partial view but you know I loved it, being close to the instruments, saw that perfectly, though sometimes the center was blocked or I didn't realize who was singing, etc. The theater isn't big, so next time I go I'm definitely getting the rear mezz tix. And considering you've never seen the show(including the dvd right?) you'd prob want the full view, as some aspects may be confusing the way the production is as it is, you'd def wanna see who is singing and such.

Em, your best bet is the rear mezz seats. The theatre is small, and you will get a good look at everything going on.
Thanks for the input!

A couple weeks ago I went to try and get 3 $36 tickets for a Thursday the following week and they were sold out. Then I came back and bought for a Sunday 3 weeks away and I got the last few tickets. So Im not sure how much luck you will have with day of, especially if the reviews are really good.
Ugh, and I'm planning on going Thanksgiving weekend. I'll have to get it soon, then.
Em, don't go for the Partial View seats. You will want to see everything happening on stage!
DO NOT miss this production! It is such an incredible piece of musical theatre!
Oh, I won't miss it. I have to go on this specific day because a friend from out of town will ONLY be here that day, and I want to see it with her!
I'll go bug the people at the box office this weekend.
I'm sure you'll be successful.
This $36 business is only the back row, yes? Not the entire rear mezz?

I believe its the last 3 or 4 rows. Since its a small theatre (and they can get away with it) there are only 2 price levels. Orchestra and most of the mezz for $100 and the last few rows of mezz for $36. I would definately suggest buying them soon for Thanksgiving weekend.

I saw the show on a Sat. about 2 weeks ago from row H (I believe) in the Mezz., it was the last full price row. I got the tickets from TKTS so they were only like $50.50 I think or somewhere around that. There was only 1 row behind us so I kind of wish we had tried for the $36 tickets instead. It looked sold out to me too.
The view was ok but I might actually suggest partial view if you have a choice (although depending on how much you are missing you might decide otherwise if it is your first time). I had no problems seeing anything, but just like everyone else I think, it's nice to be as close as possible without being too close I guess (in a perfect world...). It was hard to make out the words sometimes b/c of the sound but judging from the reviews it seems like that was a general sound issue and nothing related to the seats.
If the seat is anything other than the row behind H, though, which is J...I probably wouldn't suggest it. I don't know how familiar you are with the theater (I had never been in that Mezz. before) but I think J was the last row in the center and then the other rows were on the sides. They went up to the top in like a triangle...they just didn't look comfortable and I was glad I wasn't sitting there (the view didn't look that great and it looked squished but I could be wrong).
For $36, though, the seats are worth it. Although seeing Patti with a tuba is definitely worth full price :). If you can make up the difference I would suggest TKTS and try to get something in the Orch. or the Front Mezz. (although we got these tickets during previews so I don't know what the status is on how many are available these days at TKTS).
I suppose. It's a small theatre, so it's not like it's that high up, right?

No it's not that high.
I think I just can't count and I saw we had H so I was like cool that's going to be close. Then you realize it is actually 8th row. So I think I just psyched myself up, but the view was fine. I didn't have any problems with it, though I'm an orch. over mezz. girl so... Also, I had seen Slut earlier in the day so my "theater size judgement" may have been slightly skewed.
I just thought for full price tickets, albeit they were actually half off, we could have done better. For $36 I would have been pleasantly pleased. But I still find the side rows behind J "interesting".
