Christina can sing, she's just not a vocal powerhouse, nor did I think she needed to be when I saw the show. Wing, Audry Hepburn and Leonard Nemoy are good examples of people who cannot sing, not Christina.

And once again, the thread turns into a discussion about Christina's voice failing to break the records as "most stunning use of vocal chords". What theaterboy33 and I were discussing ( which veered from the original thread anyway!) was my complaint that in just about every Charity thread, someone (this time theaterboy33) makes the statement "why is anyone reviving Sweet Charity? There's no need for it".

One of Theaterboy33's comments was:
"Sweet Charity in its current conception neither reveals new insights into the show, nor reflects anything socially relevent."

I beg to differ. They are exploring a new ending, updating choreography (whether you like Cilento or not is IRRELEVANT)and have made book changes as well. Also, many of us have never seen a staging of Sweet Charity, and are actually (gasp!) looking forward to seeing a show representing Cy Coleman's music!

And since when does a show have to reflect something socially relevant to be on broadway? Hmmmm....Good Vibrations? All Shook Up? Mamma Mia? I could go on....but won't, because the socially relevant argument is just not relevant!

oh but Munk rumors are so much better at helping me understand what the performance was realy like than actually seeing the show and deciding for myself.
