Did they get someone that can actually sing the score to play Charity on the CD?

Bitter much?

Regardless of her singing, she's a fine performer who overcame a lot and had a LOT of spunk and dedication to this role. Give her the credit she deserves.

Plus, Gwen wasn't the best singer in the world.

I heard it wouldn't be in the theatre until mid-June, though I could be wrong. It's official release date is July 12, per Amazon.

Yes its true... i am bitter... I always dreamed of being the first man to play charity... And if we're talking about a "CD" then the singing is going to matter!!!

Boooo. Ah, well. Something tells me I'll be seeing it more than once. Regardless of her vocal talents, I've got a huge love for the girl. She's adorable. And has sooo much spunk!

personally I would go get the original recording. I am not hating on Christina, great actress, and I stress actress, but for the recording, go with the original.

I would bet that Christina will sound her best on the CD, if they don't like it, they can always do it again......If she sounds really bad on the CD, then we can start the ranting and the raving!!!!!!

For me, Applegate was strongest in her book scenes, which likely won't be on the recording. She has a mousy voice, that works fine enough , but not something I'd want to play over and over.

But, at least Cilento's "choreography" can't be put on cd. Thank God.

I would buy the CD just for Janine and Kyra.

Well, they looked over at the Marquis, but couldn't find anybody talented enough there.

Now if you are going to come up with a "comeback"...make it one that makes sense. Gary Beach is one talented man.

I collect CDs of orig. cast recordings and I'm buying it too. I love Denis O'Hare and I love this musical. Hopefully Christina's vocals will get a little help from the producers of the recording.

That wasn't an attempt at a comeback. It was my opinion of what I percieve the truth to be. I don't expect anyone to agree with me.

Well LaManna and DeCosta certainly do the job they were hired to do well: to make Applegate look better than them.

OK, right...your opinion used in a comeback...that is exactly what it was...

I think the whole uproar over Christina needs to stop. Stating an opinion in one thread is enough. After awhile, everyone begins to learn your stance. This is directed to everyone.

I don't judge people by their Tony performances. Look at Idina last year and Marissa a few years ago. Dynamic at the theatre, lousy at the Tonys. And in my opinion, although better in the theatre, Christina seemed fine on the broadcast. It was one of the few numbers that didn't look patchy and ill-rehearsed. The only show that came off better (again, in my opinion) was Spelling Bee.

Please don't presume to know what I am thinking.
There has been plenty of flaming of Christina on this board. I have every right to voice my opinion...maybe if it seems sarcastic or, to use your word, like a 'comeback,' then it's because others are quite aware that they are provoking it.

Notice Avigdoor that it is OK for BwayTheatre11 to voice an opinion. But not someone who doesn't agree with it. Maybe I'm off base here but that's what it looks like if you read the thread. Anyone is welcome to disagree with me...I never proclaim to be completely right. I'm trying to support something that I adore and is repeatedly bashed on this board. I would never stop someone from voicing what they think. If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen...

Applegate is probably hawking it in Times Square even as I type.
