Hey. I am not too familiar with "Sweet Charity," but really enjoy the revival cd. I have two questions about the song "The Rhythm of Life."
(1) What actor/character is the featured soloist? and
(2) How does this song fit into the show? The lyrics seem to not fit into the overall concept, at least from what I've been told.
MUCH appreciated.

1) The soloist is Daddy Johann Sebastian Brubeck, played by Rhett George (who was previously in Aida and the Wicked OBC Ensemble)
2) Basically, the song is sung at a new-age church Oscar brings Charity to for their first date. Oscar enjoys trying out new religions, and this one was pretty much a big 'ole drug trip. Its very humorously staged, with lots of trippy colors and dancing. I personally enjoy this new arrangement, but the original is better.
ETA: Coincidently, it just popped up on my MP3 player. The song is somewhat random, and doesn't really furthur the plot. But, its a fun song to start off Act 2 (at least in the revival, I don't know about its placement in the original).
