Switching Voice teachers?

Has anyone been put into a position--in a music program of some type--where they simply don't feel that they are learning anything from their voice teacher, nor are they progressing from their lessons, and they have had to request a different teacher as a result? (Due to my own experiences, I now insist that my teachers have at least their Master's Degree in the subject.) I'd love to hear your story, and how you tactfully approached the situation because, if this should happen to me again, I want to tactfully deal with the situation without being insensitive towards my former teacher. (Even though she was insensitive towards me behind my back; and, years later when I found her on FB she wouldn't even respond to my friendly message to her.)
