Posted: 12/5/04 at 11:12pmi know there are a lot of TABOO fans out there, and I was wondering, before i buy, which album is better: the OBC or the West End cast? i like the first number better on the london version, but i don't know which to buy. all comments welcome!

Posted: 12/5/04 at 11:14pmIf you're getting one, I say Broadway. The only song that was lost in the transition that I really miss from London is Pie in the Sky, but the cast is FAR superior in the B'way CD. I also feel like the orchestrations in the OBCR make it sound more like a musical, rather than just a compilation of Boy George's songs sung by various artists.

Posted: 12/5/04 at 11:14pmI have both, and I too like the first number on the OLC better, but I would have to recommend the Broadway version. It is better IMO, and I'm sure most people on here would agree.

Posted: 12/5/04 at 11:29pmOBC! I have both and I'm definitely more partial to the Broadway one. The arrangements are better and it has Raúl, Jeffrey and Euan! What more could you want?

I aggree, i tend to only listen to the OBCR but there are times I just love the london one... It has some original rythms that george wanted that didnt make it into the london one.. (Guttersnipe and love is a ? for example)
It also has great things like shelter and pie in the sky. When I DJ in E Midtown I always play the london version of "Everything Taboo"

I love the girl who plays Kim on the OLC, especially for her "Pretty Lies," and it has "Touched by the Hand of Cool." On the other hand, the OBC has Raul Esparza, and George's "Ich Bin Kunst," which is by far the superior take on the song. I wouldn't want to be a Taboo fan without both.

I recommend the Broadway one. The talent on that one is excellent

agreeing w/ Matt. i have seen both productions and i must say the London one is really amazing! It captures the grit of the story that i feel was sorta lost in the brilliant Bway. Although i am a huge fan of Raul, Paul Baker was perfect in his role of Phillip. the songs: pie in the sky, the one that the character PETAL sings, and independant women are three very good songs. Now, while the bway recording has amazing talent and musical arrangements, i feel the Eaun (sp..) Morton is fresh and great in the London and that the Leigh Bowry (marc something) is really good. plus the plot is better and.... well, you know what i feel. they are both good but the London for me stands out.
ps- as you can see from my photo... the london 1 was amazing

Posted: 12/6/04 at 7:48pmi have the london--it was cheaper and i liked the cover better. heh heh...
re: TABOO cds#15
Posted: 12/6/04 at 8:06pmI only have the OBC but I have heard most of the London version. You cant beat the cast of the Broadway version. Euan, Raul, Jeffery, Sarah, Liz, Cary. They are all very talented and it shows on the OBCR.
