I love this play - probably my favorite from 2004/2005. I'm glad it's having such a good production and reception in its curiously delayed NYC bow.

OK, I just have to step on one of my soapboxes here – but I swear I’ll only do it once.
This site is admittedly about Broadway, I know, but it has shown in the past to be about theater in general (albeit, mostly American theater.) So the fact that this particular production is actually Off-Broadway shouldn’t mean all that much.
WHY are there no comments or posts about it? It IS in the Mitzi Newhouse at Lincoln Center. The script WAS a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. It DOES have a strong cast, anchored by some of the best American stage actors working today. It IS written by a woman – and exists as yet another example that their voice is emerging as one of the strongest in contemporary theater.
Is it because it had the temerity to play many places around the country before getting a NYC bow? Is it because it’s a straight play, as opposed to the ‘next big musical’?
I just don’t understand why I can see dozens upon dozens of threads (collectively comprised of literally thousands of posts) about which Elphaba has the sweetest smelling farts, but a first-rate production of an important new play gets NO response whatsoever. Is everyone too busy trying to figure out which chorus boy in WEDDING SINGER is double-jointed? Is there really NO time available between the 67th and 68th viewing of SPELLING BEE?
Whatever is going on, I can’t help but feel that many here who are calling themselves theater fans are really only interested in the next pop fad as expressed through this venue. And I would SERIOUSLY recommend that they expand their horizons and see what might exist beyond the reach of a cherry picker.
End of rant, and stepping off the soapbox now.
I think I'm going to try to get student rush for it. I really want to see it.
Bravo DG! Bravo! Maybe Idina can make a guest appearance in the Clean House.
However, I did see this show in its Melbourne season this year, and it is quite brilliant.
I actually saw it in New Haven and did'nt enjoy it too much. But i seem to be in the minority
