THE IMMIGRANT - cast recording

I was talking with my rep at the record label yetserday and he advised me they are now distributing SH-K-BOOM and GHOSTLIGHT labels in Canada. He offered me copies of their releases. Most I already had but one he mentioned was THE IMMIGRANT. He is sending this to me, but I am curious to know if other BWW members have heard it and what they think of it. Apparently the show is now being handled by Samuel French. Is it the kind of show that we will be seeing a lot of in community and/or regional stagings?

Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!

I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

Yeah, it came out in July (I think). It's a nice score and definitely should be given a chance to be heard.

re: THE IMMIGRANT - cast recording

I tried to listen to this in Tower Records a few weeks ago - but couldn't get past the opening number.
"I don't really get the ending, all i can go with is when after several months,Judith saw Pat sang, and later she kissed him on the toilet, after that the story back to where Pat went down from the stage after he'd sung, and he went to the italian lady.I just don't get it,what Judith exatcly meant when he kissed Pat that she had seen, and did Pat end up together with The Italian Lady? Please help me,thank u very much!" Quote from someone on IMDB in reference to a movie he/she didn't understand. Such grammar!

I saw the production and even bought the cast album (die-hard collector that I am). I absolutely loathe the show. It's so dull and drab. A poor man's Rags, if you ask me.

I bought the recording, also being the collector that I am and in my attempt to support musical theatre cast recordings -but I'm not a huge fan. It doesn't excite me much.
-Anyone want to turn anarchist with me?

Myself, ALSO being the Cast Recording collector that I am, and I agree with pretty much what everyone said. The music is just so-so and the performances themselves leave something to be desired.

I bought the CD in my effort to be as completist as I can -- I will most likely never listen to it again. Very very dulllll.
On the other hand - totally off subject, I downloaded "The People vs. Friar Lawrence" on itunes - never heard of it before - but TOTALLY worth the 10 bucks!

I enjoyed the production, but the score was not really memorable.

Hmmmm ... well, I guess I should be grateful that I am getting this for free!!

Wow, I have never seen so many people hating a show. And I completely understand those who bought it only to fill gaps in their collections. I've been doing that for years!
