From friends who have seen the show recently and from MY recent viewings, it appears that at almost every single performance something goes wrong with the set during the POPULAR scene. The shoes don't come on, Kristin's bed comes on backwards, it doesn't go off, etc...and of course it always leads to much ad libbing and breaking of character.
Now don't get me wrong, I love WICKED and everyone in it, but the concept of purposely "bloopering" the technical aspects of the show for laughs seems very unprofessional to me (they did it during Thanksgiving too, with a microphone sound). Either that or there is something wrong with the set that really needs to be fixed.
Does anyone with "sources" in the show know what's going on? It's certainly funny, but it just doesn't seem like something that a Broadway show should INTENTIONALLY do, night after night after night...

Heh. I take it you just read my addition to the Wicked Blooper thread?
I don't really mind the set breaking, or even the occasional giggle from K&I (as long as it's in character and the scene keeps going), but I'm more concerned, not that the technical problems are deliberate, but that the crewknows this happens but haven't done anything to rectify the problem so it doesn't happen again.
"...that the crewknows this happens but haven't done anything to rectify the problem so it doesn't happen again."
EXACTLY.
If it's not written in the script, don't do it EVERY night.
