Can anyone tell me the background of this show?

I really enjoy this show. I frequently used "Angry Guy" on auditions.

I didn't even know this was a show, and I still opened the thread...
Found on Samuel French Website.
The three guys are stand up comics. Wild and crazy and very very hip, their unique blend of intellectual and slap stick humor propels them from unpaid neophyte performers to the Johnny Carson Show, instant stardom, and their own television show. Then, commercial success evaporates the magic. "Riotous!. . . Bursting with daring ideas about how to do musicals. It transforms stand up comedy into new unexpected forms of theatrical energy."-- N.Y. Times. "Breezy, funny, vulgar, fresh athletic, corny, sentimental and irresistible. The entire conception is strikingly original and oh those three guys! Should run as long as there's a laugh in us."-- N.Y. Daily News.
Hope this helps you.. Our theatre has done it.. Not my favorite..

Whatever happened to John Kasir (sp?) who was in this show. I remember him from Star Search. He was such a talented and very funny comedian.

I really know next to nothing about the show, but to here:

and listen to him sing the song "I Don't Believe in Heroes Anymore" from the show.
Just because it's glorious.

Unfortunately, the show has become rather dated. It is set in the 1980's, when there was a stand-up comedy explosion (I remember five comedy clubs openining in Chicago within a few years - four of them have sonce closed.) There is a whole song about "getting on Carson". And of course, every hot stand-up gets his own sitcom (which still happens, somewhat).
It does have some great songs, though - "Angry Guy" and "I Don't Believe in Heroes Anymore" are outstanding.

I've been assigned 'Heroes' for a class but can't seem to find a script.
The script is available from Samuel French.

Jon is right. It's a rather dated show. Extremely 1980's. I used to really like the show but now I find it a bit schmaltzy.
The show is about 3 stand up comedians and how they cope with their career and family life.
