On Saturday I am going into the city to see The Producers at night, but I was possibily thinking about going to see a show in the afternoon; and looking at the TKTS website, it says you can only buy tickets for afternoon shows the day before. Now my friend says he has already gotten tickets the same day for 2 p.m. shows. Is this the actuall policy of TKTS or just unupdated information. Any help would be great. Thanks so much.

Honestly, I thought you could only get tickets the day of...the booth opens at 10 AM for 2:00 shows.
I've never heard of TKTS selling tickets for anything other than "Day of" performances.
You know, I heard something like that to. I know the one in Times Square sells tickets day of performance, but I could have sworn that a site said there was a booth that sold TKTS tickets only a day ahead of the performance you wanted.
The TKTS booth down by the Seaport allows you to buy tickets for matinees only, the day before the show, if it's listed.
Thanks, that's probably what I read.
This is from the TKTS website:
"May I buy tickets in advance at tkts?
• tkts sells only same-day discount tickets. *At the downtown location only, matinee tickets must be bought the day before. For example, Wednesday matinee tickets must be bought on Tuesday; Saturday matinee tickets bought on Friday; and Sunday matinee tickets bought on Saturday.
This is why i got confused.
