ok, am I the only one who watched the video and says, that is not Carly Jibson? She also is my fav Tracey, but I do NOT think that is her. Mistress, what do you think? You are closest to any expert I know on the subject!

Thanks Dottie! Carly had such a childlike exuberance, an understanding of the character that touched the audience and brought them into the show, not to mention her vocal was amazing, she never dropped character on stage and her dancing was wild crazy and free spirited, noe of which I see in this vidoo portrayal of Tracy Turnblad. I still believe that the original first tour cast is hard to beat! They worked together like a machine and played off each other on stage with such a natural quality. I hope CArly is doing well!

Starlight, I saw the original tour cast in Baltimore and Hartford. At that time, I thought they were stronger than the Broadway counterpart. I loved Carly's vocals and her characterization. I hope she's well, too.

i believe it's Carly. i've seen Shannon's Tracy a few times and i still remember her voice. it also looks more like Carly than Shannon. i was told that it's actually a video from the original cast of the tour, which would make sense if it's Bruce and Carly. also, many of the ensemble members don't look familiar to me, and i don't believe there have been that many cast changes since i saw it last.

I don't think that's Carly. Carly's voice is a bit "whinier", I guess you could say, as Tracy. Especially if you look at her in "You Can't Stop The Beat".
And isn't that Bryan West as Link? I thought those videos usually have the current cast without understudies.

Again, thanks Dottie! I was just getting ready to post that I watched it again and that is not Bruce or Harvey, could it possibly be Micheal McKean? Looks more like John though. But again, that video does not have one bit of Carly's take on the role, in fact, I do not believe that is such a great video to be showing, it lacks the showmanship, pizzaz and excitment that has made "Hairspray" what it is today. Just my opinion after watching twice now, but having seen other videos thru the past 3 years and the Tour and Broadway, it seemed forced and lackluster. That doesd not mena the performers are, maybe it was just the filming of it??

Zepka believe me, I've seen John Pinnette in the show and that's him. I've seen Harvey, Bruce, Michael and John as Edna and they were all very distinctive in their looks and their voices.
Also, Bruce was blond and wore red glasses at the end of "Welcome to the 60s".
Plus, that's Jonathan Dokuchitz as Corny Collins.

On tour, the Dynamites poster is center stage. On Broadway its stage left. here in the video, it is center. also, at the end of "Welcome to the 60s," Tracy and Edna should be on the runway between the pit and the audience, but there is no pit behind them.

It depends which video you're watching. Corny is definitely seen in the 1st video because there's a brief clip of Nicest Kids in Town.
