I just bought the OBC of the show, and have not stopped playing it. This show is incredible. Il Adore is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard and Sarah Uriarte Berry sounds so beautiful too. The finale is incredible. I was looking on both the London site and the broadway site and can't seem to find a synopsis of the show, just a very very brief description. I was wondering if someone out there can point me to a site the gives the full synopsis? I'm also wondering why in the OLC there is no Nicola? How big a character is she?
I agree with you Evie. Il Adore is one of my favorite songs in the score, among many others. In regards to the synopsis of the entire show, I don't know of any sites that actually explain the entire synopsis but I would be willing to help you out if you need it. I saw the Broadway production and it was really good. Most of the critics didn't understand it I guess, but at the performance I was at there were many people that enjoyed it. In response to why there was no Nicola in London. I believe it was because there were other characters in the show (that were taken out for the Broadway run) and they wanted to make a tighter story and so they decided to include Nicola in the plot for Broadway. I believe that's part of the reason. Correct me if I'm wrong anyone? Anyways in the Broadway production Nicola played a significant part in the story and had many songs including "Il Adore" and also "Safe In The City".
Nicola wasn't in the London version. Actually basically the whole London version was different. It included fictional characters used to "tie" the story together. The OLC and the OBC are a lot different because of this. Songs like Independent Woman, Touched by the Hand of Cool, and Pie in the Sky aren't on the OBC. They were replaced by Sexual Confusion, The Fame Game, Come on In From the Outside, etc...Also you'll see on the OLC the songs that are the same as the OBC are often sung by different characters. The character of Marcus, like Nicola, was not on the OLC. The OLC had characters like Billy, Josie, Kim, and Petal, along with Steve Strange (who, although a real person ,was not in the Broadway version).
I saw the UK tour and the Broadway version.
Aside from Pie in the Sky, I think the Broadway version was far superior.
For a Taboo virgin like me, which recording would you recommend buying?
Well I mean there are songs from the London version that aren't on the Broadway version that I like. Personally I love the solo version of "Out of Fashion" better than the Quintet that they have for the Broadway version. I would say if you can afford it, buy both because of the different songs on each version. Otherwise buy the Broadway cast. It is far superior with stronger vocals by the cast.

I agree. The OBC is a lot easier to dance around in your living room too as well. For whatever reason, most of the songs on the OLC have slower tempos. I got the OLC first and fell in love with it and the got the OBC and fell in love with it again. They're both phenomenal soundtracks.
bythesword-- any way you can post a brief synopsis of the London version?? I'm dying to know the plot... I too couldn't find it anywhere.
