So I'm still in love with my Broadway Taboo but I've gotten more and more into the London recording. It feels less like a cast recording, but there are some great songs missing from Broadway. Mainly Pie in the Sky and the entire Pretty Lies (which sounds better on a female voice). Any thoughts on which you think is better?

I absolutely agree with everything you said, and simply because Broadway *sounds* more like a cast recording in terms of its orchestrations and whatnot (whereas London sounds more like a bunch of people covering Boy George music), I love it much, much more. Like you though, I do miss several of the London songs when I listen to the Broadway version, though -- mainly Pie in the Sky (of which there is also a great version on Euan's solo album).

A work of art is an invitation to love.

Raul + Petrified means Broadway for me.

"We don't value the lily less for not being made of flint and built to last. Life's bounty is in it's flow, later is too late. Where is the song when it's been sung, the dance when it's been danced? It's only we humans who want to own the future too." - Tom Stoppard, Shipwreck

I think that I prefer the OBC to the OLC, but there is some great stuff on the OLC. "Safe in the City" is a million times better when sung by a guy. "Pie in the Sky" is really good, and some of the different arrangements of the songs are fun.

I know this is an old thread but I'm bumping it because I just got into this show over the weekend (might even start one of my "What went wrong" threads like I did with Jane Eyre and Steel Pier) but I gotta say it's Broadway for me.

The London cast recording just doesn't sound like a cast recording to me.

I'm still annoyed that the OLCR was over-produced to hell as I prefer the grittier more eccentric London version of the show with the four-piece band. The sound quality on the London DVD is also distinctly lacking which is twice as frustrating!

Which reminds me: I was so disappointed to hear what is essentially a dance remix version of Touched By The Hand of Cool instead of the "grittier more eccentric" version heard on the DVD...and yes, the sound quality on the DVD is lacking.
