For those who have not seen this in Broadway.com, here are some pictures of Tony Walton's "new" sets for *A Tale of Two Cities*

After seeing the great originals in Sarasota, I must say these are even more impressive. Something to behold.

This amazing labor, alone, should be almost enough to woo Broadway audiences. But I believe everyone will find quite a bit more to enjoy in this memorable epic.

I don't really find them that impressive. Each to their own, I suppose.

I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

Ok. Fair. Perhaps I am one of the few who notes the difference, after having witnessed them 4 different times in Sarasota.
They are definitely bigger, and I find them more elaborate and finished.
Also, I suppose their magic is also in remembering how these sets were actually used onstage, which cannot be captured in these pictures. I found that a special effect in itself.

James Barbour, who has already performed on the set during the show's out-of-state run..."

Sounds like the same set to me...
Did they use this in rotating rep with Whore House?

PEACE.

This kid's almost as bad as the Wildhorn shills.

They do, infact, look different, to a degree. However, the one thing I just saw was that those sets look extremly tall, yet in the mock ups, look as if they're rather puny on the hirshfeld stage (height wise anyway). Knowing the stage from experience, it's not as nearly as big as it looks in that mock up, and as any designer knows, even an inch too small or tall could cause the sets not to fit and have to be re-designed. Wait... the opening is in 30 days... wow that's coming up fast...

Or the [tossers]!

and as any designer knows, even an inch too small or tall could cause the sets not to fit and have to be re-designed.

Boy, someone had better call Tony and let him know he needs to measure the space BEFORE he designs the set! Does anyone know how to contact him?

the opening is in 30 days... wow that's coming up fast...

and the closing in 32!

I really hope it, even if it isn't a hit, is open for a few months. I want to see it on Fall break.

You can probably see the Junior version at your local High School on Christmas break.

I'm just unsure as to why we're saying "sets" (plural). It sure appears to be ONE set to me. Clearly, it will have to convey multiple locations throughout the show, but it's still ONE, wooden frame of a set.

It's fairly attractive, but I don't see anything to write home about here.

The photo does not show the huge guillotine that flies in and out. I hope it is not too big for the Hirschfeld stage? Is there any fly space in that theater?

Of course there is fly space. I mean, they build the set to fit the theater
