Tarzan on Good Morning America! Wednesday!

On ABC nightly News they're having a segment on Tarzan through the years.

yeah, I was kinda pissed I woke up so early for that. Although, the song sounded pretty good and the voices sounded great. Josh didn't really exude masculinity to me, but whatever, that's just my opinion. But the show looks aight. I'm anxious to read the reviews.

Rentboy you are on the money with Josh/masculinity... I thought he would be a little more um... butch than he is. Jane actually seemed more masculine. I'm seeing it tonight, but that seems like an awfully big suspension of belief for me in a show that Munk says is wrought with problems.

Munk is an off Broadway hack. Why not make your own opinion after viewing it?

Yeah, that's not to say he isn't a good actor and can exude masculinity in character, but yeah, I'm not sure how he impressed the auditioners...the reviews should be interesting.

Well, Jungle Boys aren't my thing...but Tarzan should just be very masculine. He seemed to have a rather sissy voice, etc. I know that will probably offend people, but whatever, just an opinion.

Vinnie: What do you actually DO for a living, I can't recall?

I don't constantly work Off-Broadway, I've only done a handful of things. I'm not concentrating on that right now. I'm a student.

And I agree, Strickland is quite wimpy.

lol Rent & Munk... I have to say my biggest complaint with bway casting besides “colorblind casting” is the failure to cast believable hetero-male love interests. They have to bring in bway saviors like Hugh Jackman and Connick to create believable relationships. I was going in the show with an open mind,,, but really after seeing those clips, I am already disappointed. We’ll see maybe he can “act.” Well time to get dressed!

Yeah, I mean, I haven't seen the show, so maybe he can 'ACT' better, but I mean from seeing him on the street when I was leaving DRS and then seeing this interview, he doesn't strike me as the most masculine. He must have won Disney over somehow.

Four of us went to see Tarzan. Although we did not like the show, we all admired Josh and thought he did a great job in the role.

In my opinion, overall, Americans seems very insecure in masculinity. It became very stereotype that man has to be rough, big, not gentle, not too sophisticated, etc.

BTW, I don’t think Hugh Jackman is a great example either base on your logic.

But for the sake of this show, i think Tarzan should exude stereotypical mascunlity. I mean, it's a show about a jungle man raised by gorillas. He's not going to be some whimpy man, he's going to be big and rough because he's been living in the jungle all his life.

There should be a Broadway.com Opening Night video, yes?

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Yeah, but probably not until tomm. or Friday. They usually take a little while to edit and whatnot.

I think we have discussed quite a lot on what body size Tarzan should be. I understand your point although I'm not sure if that's absolutely true that mountain/ forest men must have big muscle. Most indigenous, which do a lot of physical and live in a wild, does not seems to have big muscle to me.

I did not think he is whimpy though.

Is Josh Strickland gay? Just wondering, I don't mean to offend anyone by asking.

He did have a rather sissy speaking voice, but I thought he sounded really nice singing with Jenn. I think he'll do fine with the role. I don't think its right to judge someone's overall performance by the way they speak. From everything I've read, Josh is great as Tarzan.

The thing that was weird to me is OK, after the show, I'm sure he showers all of the dirt make-up off...but did you notice the length of his hair when he said "Thank you" to the audience member and when he was being interviewed...I'm wondering how much of a time difference there was between the two.
