I saw Kristen this morning on Breakfast with the Arts. I only caught the tail end when she sang this song. I've read a very little bit about it on some other threads but I was wondering if anybody could explain exactly where this song came from and why it's become her signature?
I personally thought it was stupid.
It's been a cabaret staple for years. She's just the first big-name person to really do it a lot.

it was written by zina goldrich... i think the song is brilliant. kristin has sort of made it her signature song. it's not from any show or anything.

It was originally from a workshopped show by Marcy and Zina
I think the first time Kristin sang it was for her YAGMCB audition
i love that song, it is just so random but that is what makes it fantastic
Anyone know the lyrics to the spoof version "Carol the Stalker Girl" ?

I love that song and I've heard it performed several times. In my opinion, nobody does it like Kristin.
it is funny because i am going to be performing this soon but instead of being carol, i will be kayla.....it works for my name! but i was wondering if there were any places i could get the sheet music for it w/o buying the book?

I love John Tartaglia's version much more than Kristen's...

It's on Susan Egan's Coffee House and Kristin Chenoweth's As I Am CDs
If I buy Kristin's new cd, it will be for this song.
I do ADORE Susan Egan singing the song -- SO funny. "..and thank you for the extra foam. And he said his name was Taylor, which provides the inspiration for this.... p-oam." =)
I can just SEE John Tartaglia singing it...I'm sure he does a great rendition!
He does it at his AD-Liberty shows
He has one of his backup boys dressed in the green apron and sings it to him
I'll try to find a picture...
AHA! I found it!

Wish he would market Rod's Turn!

Rod's Turn is AMAZING and luckily you can hear it on BWW radio
But yeah, when Johnny makes his first album, Taylor better be on it
Thanks so much for that picture, broadwaystar2b! It's too adorable. =)
And Corine, I second that, Rod's Turn is ingenious! =)
I want to own Rod's Turn.
I also wish he would perform it again. It was in his show at the Ars Nova. The one I could not get a ticket for. He never put it into his show at Joe's and I went to see that!
Hope he can introduce Rod's Turn again.
If anyone speaks to Tags please tell him.
Thank you.
