Hope this isn't a dumb question but I'm looking for show tickets on Telecharge and was wondering - is it possible that some of the seats designated as premium seating ever go down in price the closer it gets to the date of the show?
Yes, usually 1 or 2 days before showtime.
Yes, it can happen. Depends on the show, though.
For a show with a lot of demand, they have little incentive to drop the premium price too early, since the whole point of premium is letting people make last minute decisions and get great seats.
I'd recommend checking back regularly if you have a fixed show and date in mind. I've been there and bought seats I know were premium the day before for regular.
Also, shows also reserve house seats which pop can pop up a day or so before, which will also typically be full price instead of premium.

This almost always happens so don't be discouraged. One recent example for me was when I bought tickets on a Saturday for the upcoming Wednesday matinee of A Raisin in the Sun (seats were Center Orchestra Row H $149 instead of the usual $250-425 premium for that show!) That is also what I plan on doing for Fish in the Dark as I see for this week they are releasing a lot of front mezzanine (albeit to the extreme side). They had left orchestra row L seats that popped up for Tuesday night at a regular price (on the aisle), but I didn't get them as I'm seeing Cabaret Wednesday night and want to see Fish in a few weeks.
