Posted: 12/15/06 at 4:09pmI know there's some debate about Pimpernel casts, but the song "Falcon in the Dive" when sung by Terrence Mann gives me shivers. I've listened to some other guys do the song and it left me with the taste of disappointment in my mouth. But when sung correctly I think it's wonderful!

Posted: 12/15/06 at 9:14pmThe problem with Wildhorn is he dosen't know which of the twelve billions versions of his shows is the good one. I hope he continues to have a life on Broadway, and dosen't just become a european hermit. I like most of the J&H stuff I know (I have the OBC and seen the DVD, but from what I understand it can be a better show). And all my impressions are that Pimpernel is a marvelous show (In its more recent versions). I don't know much about The Civil War or CC though. Come back to america, and find someone who can help you edit!

"When I Look At You" is a gorgeous song and I absolutely love to sing it. :)
Plus, I love practically all the songs from The Scarlet Pimpernel, especially "Madame Guillotine" and "Into the Fire." and Terrance Mann singing "Falcon in the Drive?" Amazing.
But I never really liked anything from Jekyll and Hyde besides "Someone Like You."
and I saw For the Glory in it's Gettysburg run this summer, and wasn't that impressed with that version of the show. But most of what I didn't like had to do with the directing and the actors. I did like the music though, some of the songs were really emotional.

The double disc of J&h is great but I can't really tell if I only think it is better because of Warlow.
Pimpernell has some great stuff but again I have to agree that Frank never seems to know which version of his show is the best one.
Sometimes you have to know when to "Sign the Painting".

The exit music of any Wildhorn show is positively liberating.

Posted: 12/16/06 at 1:23amTheEnchantedHunter - I often find that at the end of a Frank Wildhorn show, the audience applauds very enthusiastically. After many demographics and surveys being poured over, I have come to the conclusion that the reason his shows get such enthusiastic applause at the end is because the audience is not only applauding the actors but THEMSELVES, for having the bravery and fortitude to sit through the show. Do you agree?

Dear rockfenris2005,
Please feel free to answer rhetorical questions that I personally ask to you or to the general public. Please do not feel free to answer questions that have obviously been asked exclusively to TheEnchantedHunter.
Thanks,

I love Pimpernel, especially Percy's songs (She Was There and Prayer), which I believe were some of the last songs to be added to the show before Broadway.
I'm also very fond of The Civil War, which got a bad rap partially because it was more of a song cycle than a musical, and therefore didn't live up to anyone's expectations of it.
Svengali has some gorgeous tunes (and a fun story), but it really needs to be Pimpernelized before it goes anywhere -- i.e. the number of love ballads for the leading lady needs to be significantly reduced!

The double CD of Civil War was awesome with The Glory being one of the best closing numbers I have ever heard
The show was great by the way. i also do not buy the baloney that the cast gets a standing ovation because the audience is glad it is over

It is amazing how some people jump on certain people's bandwagons and some people absolutely have to be snobs.
I enjoy Frank for what he is. I enjoy Stephen Sondheim and Lloyd Webber and really anyone who writes for the theater. I enjoy them as they are continuing to keep our passions alive. I may not like some of their works but the fact that we theater go-ers are so critical (And we are! We are!) they still put their hearts and souls out on the line (hey isn't that a line from Dreamgirls.....)
Anyway- It just amazes me how we turn to petty sh.t instead of just talking about it with an opinion.
That said, My favorite songs that Frank has written where for his ex, Linda.

I love "Only Love" from The Scarlet Pimpernel and am sad that it was cut; it was one of the few scenes that fit right in with the book.
Anyway... JaH complete recording with Anthony Warlow. It has some baad lyrics but I think the music is quite powerful. You're all though I'm sure familiar with my thoughts on "A New Life."
Scarlet Pimpernel but I don't like all of the changes that were made. Wildhorn needs to learn to leave his shows ALONE.
