From those scores I'm familiar with (I don't really know MILLIE), CAROLINE, OR CHANGE is my favourite as an overall show. Much like Mr. Nowack, I love it but don't play the cast recording often. VIOLET is my favourite in terms of pretty music. And in agreement with many others, I love certain songs from SHREK, but find the others to be rather lame.

 

For some reason I don't generally notice the quality of Tesori's music much one way or the other. For me at least, her scores seem to consist of music 'staying out of the way' of the compelling lyrics and plots, not drawing attention to itself for its own sake. Which is probably completely intentional, and much harder to achieve than the end result might indicate. Songs like 'On My Way' prove that Tesori knows how to write beautiful, 'showy' music when she wants to.
