Th Muppets Wiard of Oz starring Ashanti, Queen Latifah, and David Alan Grier...

Hey all,

found this on muppets.com. I have known for a while they were working ona TV movie version of "Oz" starring the muppets, but now that filming has wrapped, they have some stuff up on their website about it. The production stills and the concept art have me DEFINATELY looking forward to when it airs!

Ashanti - Dorothy Gale (VERY unlikely casting, but it just may work)
Queen Latifah - Aunt Em
David Alan Grier - Uncle Henry
Jeffrey Tamour - Wizard
Quintan Tarentino - special appearance as himself (?!?)
Kermit - Scarecrow
Gonzo - Tinman
Fozzie Bear - Lion
Pepe the King Prawn - Toto
Miss Piggy - as EVERY witch in the story

I can't decide whether or not to get excited for this..... It sounds like it could be good... but theres a chance it might suck.

I didn't know much about Ashanti and I got her CD from the library last week to see what all the ruckus was about. And I saw it was about nothing. And now she's with the muppets as Dorothy of all people??? Ick. Just ick. But I like that they're bringing back the Muppets.

Rent "The Wiz". Michael Jackson is Muppet-Like and Diana Ross beats Ashanti anyday.

They had my entire family "bumped off" and I'm very bitter...

I love me some Muppets, but you have to admit the Franchise is in trouble...Miss Piggy hocking Denny's and Pizza Hut, with pork products on both commericals? I mean come on Muppets...

Thanks, bg2. We love us the muppets over here! Am I the only one who laments the fact that they probably won't do Kermit, Prince of Denmark? Man, I think that'd be brilliant!

I love the muppets maybe more so then bway.. I'm a little worried about them doing such a clasice like this, but I will see it becasue Kermit is like my hero! I love that frog.. and it kind of makes me happy the Pepe is toto.. but what about rizo.. the rat from Jersey.. has he been replaced by the mexican King Prawn ?
