I saw a really cute reading today called "That's Andy". It's about a little boy who wants to play the role of Little Orphan Annie in his town's production of "Annie." I think it has so much potential, but still needs a little work. It seemed a little too long. The cast was so talented and there were some great songs. Has anyone else ever seen this or heard of it?

I read about it at Playbill.com

saw an earlier reading, and agree it has great potential.

I saw it tonight with a friend who works with one of the kids in the show.
Here is my review:

I loved the story.
It is a story of a boy who wants to play Annie and when he comes out with it,throws everything into a big mess and people dont know what to do. They send him to a "talk show" that will fix him....
It was very clever and cute. The cast was full of energy and fun to watch.

Some of the songs in were too much. There was a point after Andy comes out in the dress and the story is getting really good, where there were too many sideline songs. I think it has a lot of potential.

Standouts...
from my program:
Beth Leavel (Betty Sweet)....If I was straight, I would marry you. Wow! amazingly cunning and evil! Perfect.
George Dvorsky (mayor Utter )
Joan Barber (Principal)
Christian Johansen-(Andy) Watch for this kid! He has so much passion and is a very talented young man. So vulnerable and strong. You fell in love with his character.
Johanna Pinzler (Tina's mom) yes!! I wanted to see more of her character. She was fun and entertaining.
Doug Shapiro (Boozer the Bum)
Brittany Brown, Jennifer Mintzer,Kate Pazakis (Old ladies/kids) These girls were so so funny and cartoonish as kids and grannies. They added humor at just the right times

I am a complete idiot. I never conected Annie to the James Whitcomb Riley poem "Lil Orphant Annie". I may be rode out of town on a rail now! (Literally! I grew up going to school in the town where Riley was born and raised. I had him drilled into my head for 9 years!) I must go do penance in front of the Riley Statue at the courthouse in sack cloth and then jump in the Ole Swimmin Hole even though it is freezing out.

I saw an earlier reading of this. Andy was being played by... shoot, what's his name, Evan, the kid who was in Assassins. He was glorious. And his friend was being played by one of the Nala's. It was fun and catchy, and a different type of story.
